The mound is located on a separate hill, on the former eastern shore of the old Kretuonas Lake (now 300 m from the lake). The site is trapezoidal, sloping to the west. A rampart is built at its edge. The side slopes are steep, the rear slopes are gentle. There was a settlement on the hill next to the mound. The mound was used in the 4th–5th centuries.
The cultural layer is 1.3-1.9 m. thick. The cultural layer consists of two cultural layers. Stone and flint finds were found in the lower layer, it belongs to the Late Mesolithic period, and iron, clay and ceramics with a streaked surface were found in the upper layer, it belongs to the late period of the Streaked Pottery culture.
The surface of the mound is excavated with potato pits, of which over 235 have been counted on the mound. During World War II, long trenches were dug on the southern slope of the mound.
