    Hiking

The East Fork of the Gila River runs through remote canyons in southwestern New Mexico, fed by mountain runoff and shaded by cottonwoods and sycamores. It supports native fish, including Sonora and desert suckers. This crossing is an easy ford and is a quiet stretch of river that’s good for fishing. The shallow water and shade of the trees make this an ideal spot to pitch your tent for an overnight.
