Where the cobblestones now stand, there once stood the "risseu"—from the Genoese "ciottoli"—an artistic form of mosaic paving, typical of 17th-century Liguria, particularly Genoa and its coasts. Made from white, black, and gray sea pebbles, arranged by hand with patience and skill, the risseu decorated church squares, convent courtyards, patrician villas, and gardens. A veritable stone carpet that tells ancient stories.
Looking up, right at number 2, you can see a wooden architrave of historical and religious value, an architectural testament to the ancient church.
