The sanctuary of the 'Madonna di Novi Velia' is located on top of Mount Gelbison in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, in the municipality of Novi Velia and bordering the municipalities of Cannalonga and Rofrano. The summit is located at 1,705 above sea level and this makes it the highest Marian sanctuary in Italy.

The sanctuary can be reached by car as far as the Croce di Rofrano, where tradition has it that it is necessary to make three laps around the cross. From there you have to walk up the steps leading to the top of the Sanctuary.
