This memorial stone commemorates the 800th anniversary.
Hachede was first mentioned in 1216.
A document from 1216 confirmed to Hamburg merchants that Duke Henry the Lion had exempted them from the Elbe toll at Hachede.
Around 30 years later, the diversion of the Elbe River led to the demise of Hachede and its church.
The result was the re-establishment of Geesthacht and the two marsh villages of Obermarschacht and Niedermarschacht.
