The Pyynikin observation tower is a 26-meter-high observation tower on the striking Pyynikinharju moraine ridge in Tampere. It was built from red granite in 1929 and opened to celebrate the city's 150th anniversary. The platform offers spectacular views of the city and the two lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. At the base of the tower is a well-known coffee shop ("Munkkikahvila"), famous for its fresh donuts and coffee. It is open year-round, and admission to the observation deck is only a few euros.
