The archaeological site Sannai-Maruyama reveals the reconstructed foundations of a settlement from the Jomon period. Discovered in 1992, the site was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2000, protecting the site from development while losing its historical treasures. Visitors can freely explore the vast grounds with the various huts and settlements, as well as the large six pillar structure that dominates the main site.
