One kilometer before the confluence of the Kateminer Mühlenbach creek with the Elbe, the weir of the Kateminer mill has been damaging the water of the creek into a mill pond for more than 600 years. First mentioned in 1330, the mill was for a long time in the possession of the monastery Scharnebeck.
After a fire in 1790, a new mill building was built, which is still partially preserved today.
The grain mill received a turbine in 1907 and worked with two
Shotguns and a roller mill. Today it is one of the few water mills in the region that still processes bread grain for commercial purposes. In a neighboring building, the family B. Daxner set up a country trade and health food store. To this day, the mill works in its elongated half-timbered building from the early 19th century, on the west gable in 1933 a massive, two-storey
Residential house was grown.
