Floukas, also called feluccas, are small lateen-rigged boats typical of the Kerkennah archipelago. Built on a keel with a lightweight hull, they are perfectly suited to the shallow waters and local shoals. Used primarily for artisanal fishing (charfia, catching octopus, mullet, sea bream, etc.), they glide silently with the wind, providing iconic scenes of the Kerkennah maritime landscape.
Today, some are still used for sea trips, combining tradition and discovery, while craftsmen continue their craft. Their bright colors and classic silhouette evoke the soul of Kerkennah.
