From the summit, at an altitude of 643 metres, you can enjoy a wide view of the Slovenian Karst and the Gulf of Trieste to the south on clear days, and the Vipava Valley and the Gorizia Collio to the north.

The route runs entirely through Slovenian territory and follows dirt roads and trails along the edge and the stunning karst plateau of Komen/Comeno. Among the route's special features are the vast panoramas that span from the Adriatic Sea to the Po Valley to the Alps, which unfold like a painting. It's remarkable that from the starting point to the summit of Mt. Trstelj, With the exception of the Miren Tower, there are no buildings along the route (it's a full 13.4 km); nature reigns supreme, and, especially in the first few kilometers, it's common to encounter a roe deer.
The various villages on the plateau you pass through after the rapid descent from Mount Trstelj are quaint and lively. They have much to tell about the events of the First World War, given that they were located directly behind the front lines. In memory of those tragic events, the network of Paths of Peace on the Karst (Proti Miru Na Krasu) was created.
Here we are, describing yet another piece of land in the Isonzo Valley that has nothing in common with the other areas described by the other itineraries. Something that makes our region truly unique.

On one side the view extends to the sea, on the other over the Vipava Valley
