The desert here is dotted with individual remnants of an earlier plateau, eroded out of the landscape. These monumental hills, or inselbergs, are mostly harder rocks capping softer layers. Sometimes steep walled, mostly with loose material, and hard to climb. A dirt track leads south along a seasonal creek bed that leads toward the Oued Dades river a few kilometers to the south.
