The former Court of First Instance (Tribunal d'Instance) of Puget-Théniers was located in the former Augustinian monastery on what is now Place du Tribunal. It was established around 1800 and served primarily as a peace tribunal for minor civil and criminal cases.

After varying periods of operation – including a closure after the Empire and a reopening starting in 1860 – the court was finally closed in 1970. The building is now part of the historic town center and is recognizable by its Italianate arcaded façade.

Important court records and archival documents from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved. The building has been renovated in recent years as part of its preservation efforts.
