Important information for those arriving by car: If you enter "Kohlstatt parking lot" as your destination, the sat nav will direct you along a closed (residential) road (at least that's how it was for me with Google Maps). It's better to enter "Kalkofen hiking parking lot." You'll then pass the road to the cable car valley station, continue to the Kalkofen parking lot, and then simply continue straight ahead until you reach the end marked "Kohlstatt parking lot." The climb to Hochfelln is very beautiful and varied. It begins on a forest road, past lovely streambeds and waterfalls. Then it turns left. You cross a dry streambed and then climb the mostly shady forest path. From here, and throughout the rest of the route, surefootedness is essential, as the path is often very narrow. When you emerge from the forest path, you'll have a constant, fantastic view of the surrounding area and the diverse flowers. Once you've reached the top: Enjoy the magnificent view and a stop at the beer garden, where you can also watch the paragliders. Conclusion: Hochfelln is a challenging climb, but rewards you with variety and a beautiful view from the summit. Have fun!
