Hirtentor (Shepherd's Gate) Thüngersheim

The Shepherd's Gate probably dates from 1588. It is an L-shaped building with a ground floor made of quarry stone masonry and a half-timbered upper floor. Two gate passages lead through its two legs that meet at right angles, one into Obere Hauptstrasse and the other into Plangasse.

In 1984 the building was extensively renovated and equipped with sanitary facilities on the ground floor and a large room and kitchen on the upper floor. It has been available to the Thüngersheim carnival club, which has leased it, since 1982.

Very nice old half-timbered art from the 16th century

Shepherd's Gate, also King's Gate, gate of the local fortifications, two-story double gate system with a hook floor plan with a half-timbered upper floor and a hipped gable roof on one side, with a sandstone figure of St. Wendelin from the 18th century, gate marked 1588
