Sakaimachi Street is an excellent shopping street in Otaru, which houses glass shops, wooden handicrafts, seafood restaurants and dessert temples in converted historic buildings. This is a cozy place to visit on a trip to Otaru. Just stop for dessert and coffee in one of the Le Tao dessert restaurants, which specializes in excellent cheesecake and other desserts. There are many souvenir shops selling local and Hokkaido takeaway food.
