From the outside, a bit neglected information from the diocese websites:
In the 1970s, the then parish priest, Fr. Jan Makowski, knowing the difficulties of the local population in reaching the church, after a thorough consultation with the residents and with their support decided to make efforts to build a church in Szczuki. After obtaining the consent of the communist authorities, the church was built in the years 1982-1987. By decree of November 15, 1987, Józef Cardinal Glemp, the Primate of Poland, erected the parish of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe at this church, excluding it from the parishes of Biała Rawska and Błędów. Its first parish priest was Fr. Jan Janik. On December 8, 2003, the Bishop of Łowicz, Alojzy Orszulik, consecrated the church and raised it to the dignity of the diocesan Sanctuary of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe. The church is modernist, designed by mgr. inż. arch. Jan Szmidt. Its front wall is decorated with a mosaic incorporated into the cross, depicting St. Maximilian. The whole is dominated by the figure of the Mother of God with figures of angels.
