At one of the highest points of the Gavarres massif we find the famous Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels which was built by the inhabitants of Sant Martí Vell themselves. The sanctuary expanded in the s. XVII consists of a central nave and two side chapels. There is also an attached guest house. Its popularity has turned it into an important pilgrimage center where pilgrimages, gatherings and popular events are organized which allows visitors to enjoy an extraordinary panorama of the plan of Girona, the Baix Empordà, the Medes Islands, the Pyrenees, the Montseny and the Guilleries.

As a curiosity, Salvador Dalí and Gala got married on August 8, 1958.

One of the most visited and most devoted sanctuaries in the Gerund lands, located at the top of Puig Alt, in the Massif de las Gavarres, in the municipality of Sant Martí Vell (Gironés). Salvador Dalí married his wife Gala in that sanctuary in 1958.
