In 1889, a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes was built in the middle of a forest in a picturesque valley. The design of the chapel was created for the 40th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The single-nave chapel with a richly decorated altar was consecrated on September 15, 1889. On the same day, the pilgrimage site was named Dřízna.
