Edsholm Castle is a medieval castle by the Slottsbrosundet strait in Grums, Värmland. It was probably built in the 1370s by Marshal Erik Kettilsson Puke. The location was a strategically important point from which they controlled the sea route up to Värmeln and the interior, which also forms the important route from the west coast through Dalsland to Värmland and Bergslagen. Edsholm is one of Värmland's three medieval castles. The other two are Saxholmen Castle and Amneholm Castle in Gullspång. The castle was the seat of the royal bailiff in Värmland. The last chieftain there was the knight Herman Gisler, during whose time the castle was captured and destroyed by Värmland peasants under Peder Ulfsson (Roos) in 1434 in connection with the Engelbrekt Uprising. It was never rebuilt. Archaeological investigations were carried out in 1991–1992, resulting in several reports.
