This 1.79-ha. park, located in the Riverdale neighbourhood, is named after the award-winning filmmaker, broadcaster and musician Allan Stein (1948-1994). The Ontario-born Stein produced and directed the 1987 film Shooting Stars: The Amazing Story of the Edmonton Grads. It chronicled the history of the world-renowned women's basketball team, which won dozens of national and international championships. Stein served as president of the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association and the Alberta Union of Students, and was a member of the Worth Commission on Education. He was also a founding member of film West Associates. In 1990, Stein turned his talents to radio broadcasting, hosting "Edmonton PM," CBC radio's weekday afternoon program.
