At the entrance gate to the „Ziemowit” Hard Coal Mine in Lędziny (at ul. Pokoju) stands a historic mine locomotive of the Ld-05 type (colloquially known as „Karlik”) as a monument.
Here are the most important facts about this object:
Symbolism: The locomotive, along with its wagons (so-called spoil wagons), is a symbol of the mining tradition of Lędziny and the mine itself, which is one of the largest mining facilities in Europe.
Vehicle type: It is a classic narrow-gauge electric locomotive that served for decades to transport spoil and materials in underground workings.
