Arholma Battery is strategically located on the northern tip of the island. The cannon was completed in 1968 and intended to protect the Sea of Åland during the Cold War.

What you don't see from this vantage point is the (then) top secret facility in the mountain below; capable of housing some 340 Swedish military personnel.
