Altogether there are about two miles of road-walking between the town of Herod and the point where the River to River Trail emerges from the woods near Benham Ridge Road. Even though you're walking on a road, the traffic isn't too bad and the forested hillside, with occasional creeks threading through it, keeps you constant company just off the road.
