Kapilikaya Rock Tomb is situated near Laçin, in the Çorum Province of Turkey. This ancient rock tomb, dating back to the Hellenistic period around the 2nd century BC, is carved into a rocky cliff face. A steep trail leads to a platform with stairs, offering access to the tomb. The tomb's entrance features an inscription "IKEZIOS," possibly linked to an ancient commander.
The surrounding landscape is characterized by rift valleys and a creek, providing a picturesque setting. While there isn't an easy access to the platform today, a steep trail allows visitors to reach the tomb. You can walk around the tomb and even climb onto the roof.
To reach Kapilikaya Rock Tomb, a rental car is recommended, as it is located 27 km north of Çorum city center along the Çorum-Laçin road. The viewpoint offers an amazing view of the structure nestled among the forested mountains and valleys. While hiking is possible, it is not part of the Hittite Way network. Accommodation options are best found in Çorum city center.
