It is located in the historic center of the city and is considered one of the oldest churches in the Diocese of Verona. The first evidence of a church dedicated to Saint Martin dates back to 1008: De plebe S. Martini in Vico Piscaria. Pope Eugene III wrote in a bull in 1145: Plebem de Piscaria cum hairs et decimis et piscationibus et dimidia curte. By 1454, it was a parish church with an archpriest.
