The South Mowich River is a braided, glacier-fed river on the northwest side of Mount Rainier, and a striking landmark along the Wonderland Trail. Fed primarily by meltwater from the South Mowich Glacier, this river is known for its wide, gravelly floodplain, with shifting channels and gray, silt-heavy water typical of glacial runoff.
