Best Mountain Biking Routes to Monschau
Tips
  • Monschau is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. The small town is located near the border with Belgium and is best known for its medieval town center. The half-timbered houses lining the River Rur (not to be confused with the Ruhr) have already served many photographers as enchanted scenery.

Overlooking the town center is Monschau Castle, which is also worth a visit. The cobblestone streets between the houses from the 13th century create a special atmosphere. Tip: For a little break, the Café Kaulard right on the historic marketplace is just the thing. Here you get everything that the biker's heart desires on the go.

  • Around Monschau are wonderful Singel Trail and hiking trails. Then drink something in Monschau.
Eifelsteig 3-stage starts here. There are accommodations for every price range.
    Always worth a trip.

  • Monschau is a small resort town in the Eifel region of western Germany, located in the Aachen district of North Rhine-Westphalia.It’s known for its medieval center, with half-timbered houses and narrow cobblestone streets. Looming over the town, turreted Monschau Castle hosts open-air concerts. The Red House, the 1752 home of a wealthy cloth manufacturer, includes lavish period furnishings and a carved, winding oak staircase. Trails traverse nearby Eifel National Park. So, it's very tempting to sit down and have a big "tarte" or lunch, but from the bottom of the village there is steep climb that seems to be endless - especially when the cobbles are wet you need to work very hard to get above
