The Emperor's Tower was built here in 1907 and is 34 meters high. In front of it stood a wooden tower built in 1888 but overturned in 1904 during a storm.

At the height there are many beautiful hiking trails. In winter, snow can be, then many come to sledging.

Gigantic views and a nice stop with delicious cake and hot coffee. What does the Wanderherz need more in winter? Right, a chilled wheat beer. All this is in a great atmosphere in the restaurant, a climb to the tower is highly recommended.

The Neunkircher Höhe is the highest elevation of the Hessian Odenwald. Here is not only the emperor tower, but also the Seibertstein.
Also not far away are the Gersprenzquelle, Hexenstein and Ludwigsfelsen. The tower can only be climbed if the restaurant is open.
    The cider cake is legendary.

Probably the highest elevation of the Hessian Odenwald. Quaint tower with great views. Down in the tower is a small restaurant. There you can also pay one euro for the tower ascent.

It's not worth it to be late on the turn. Unfortunately, when we arrived there, the cider cake was already empty.

The Neunkircher Höhe is the highest elevation in the northern (Hessian) Odenwald. In other words, from the Kaiserturm you have a largely unrestricted view in every direction (nothing is higher, except a few trees nearby). Just to the west opens through the Lautertal the view into the Oberrheintal into over to the other side, the Palatinate Forest.
To the north, the view opens over the northern heights in the area between Odenwald and Taunus. In clear weather you should be able to recognize the skyline of Frankfurt; at least the Hanau power plant stands out in front of the gate to Wetterau.
The ascent to the tower costs just one euro, which you must shell out in the Turmschänke, but worth it.

If the restaurant and tower are closed, it is still worth the rest outdoors

At 605 meters, the Neunkircher Höhe is the highest mountain in the Hessian part and the second highest mountain in the entire Odenwald. The stone Kaiserturm has risen 34 meters on the forested ridge since 1906

Great rest area with benches and tables at a height of 605 m. At the weekend you can buy something warm to eat between 12 and 5 p.m.

Here is a small excerpt from the explanatory boards of the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald that were set up in 2020:"NEUNKIRCHER HÖHE WITH KAISERTURM[...] The peak with the Kaiserturm lies within the district of the formerly independent community of Gadernheim, which also bears the tower in the coat of arms. [...]
The mountain ridge, which stretches from north to south, with its western foothills Westergiebel (555 m NN) and Gehrenstein (527 m NN) as well as the further east Rimdidim (498 NN) represents with its location in the front Odenwald a landmark that already in earlier centuries in the border description of Mark Heppenheim, an administrative district of the Franconian Empire, when "winter caste" was mentioned. Nice hiking destination with the opportunity to rest. If the tower is open, there is a good opportunity to have a panoramic view of the Odenwald from above. You are standing in the middle of the forest and you have no distant view.
