The Pacific Northwest Trail's coastal region is called the Wilderness Coast. This segment spans 61 miles from Forks, Washington, to Cape Alava—the westernmost point in the contiguous United States. Hikers will meander past sea stacks, tide pools, and coastal forests, but it's not totally a beach vacation. Be prepared for challenging terrain like sand hiking, ropes-assisted scrambling over forested headlands, and playing your cards right to pass certain areas at low tide.
