Mountain Biking Highlight
The Willinger Hochheideturm has been the highest walk-in lookout point in north-west Germany since 2002. Higher than on the observation deck (at 875 meters), you will not find anywhere in the region.
If you still have enough strength in your legs, you will reach the glazed observation deck over 241 steps. But there is also a lift available and you can so comfortably enjoy the great view from up there.
Speaking of strength - you can refuel in the Ettelsberg hut next door. The hut keeper Siggi always ensures a good mood with his whistle trumpet or the alphorn and the burning "hut spirit" and the pea soup in the glass have reached a true cult status.

'Visiting the cult hut host Siggi
The rustic Ettelsberg hut is known far beyond the region. On the edge of the Hochheide, just a few steps from the mountain station of the Ettelsberg cable car, the Hochheideturm and the Ettelsberg lake, hikers, bikers, winter sports enthusiasts and day trippers of all kinds come to Siggis Hütte.
Landlord Siggi enjoys cult status and entertains visitors from time to time with the alphorn or the centrifugal trumpet. His specialties such as pea soup in a glass and burning hut spirit are real “hits”.
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 15 minutes before the last cable car descent ... '

Forested mountains as far as the eye can see. An almost endless horizon. The municipality of Willingen is picturesquely situated in the valley. The view from the Hochheideturm is breathtaking. Nowhere else in all of north-west Germany can visitors get higher.
The Hochheideturm towers proudly on the summit of the Ettelsberg. From the glazed, air-conditioned viewing platform, the panoramic view over the Sauerland and Waldecker Land is simply impressive.
Climbing and abseiling at lofty heights is a real adventure. The brave climb the Hochheideturm on two walls on two routes.
