The Malchow Monastery Forge, also known as the "Old Forge," was built in 1851, as documented by a cast-iron date in the gable. It is part of a listed ensemble of the Malchow monastery complex and includes, in addition to the actual forge, a residential building and a gatehouse, which were already listed on a city map in 1848. The construction is typical of the period: a simple clinker brick building with a roof pitched at approximately 36 degrees, with the rafter heads resting directly on the wall crown.

The Malchow Monastery Art Museum presents works of art in historically restored rooms and offers an impressive experience of regional art history. The monastery's former refectory houses the works and study of the Malchow-born artist Rudolf Gahlbeck (1895–1972), as well as works by Sieghard Dittner (1924–2002), who lived in Malchow for many years; Friedrich-Franz Pingel (1904–1994), also born in Malchow; and Peter Hesse (1921–2008).
