Sherman Pass from Barney's Junction in the southern Sierra Nevada of California is a significant and remote road biking challenge on a Forest Service Road, taking you to a high mountain pass. Starting around 3,900-4,000 feet near Barney's Junction, you'll ascend approximately 5,200-5,300 feet over about 15.5 to 16 miles to reach the 9,200-foot Sherman Pass summit, with a sustained average gradient around 6.4%. The ride climbs through transitioning forests and remote mountain scenery, with views of the Kern River canyon and surrounding peaks, culminating in impressive vistas from the summit.
