Water Tower (Glatzkopp) – MA/Seckenheim 🚴♂️The water tower in Mannheim-Seckenheim is a listed landmark of this district. Built from 1909 to 1911, the tower was made of rammed concrete. Its octagonal floor plan and supporting structure consist of eight pillars. The tower features a restrained Art Nouveau design, which is particularly evident in its spire, a dome covered with copper sheeting. This earned it the local nickname "Glatzkopp."
The tower is 37.7 m tall and has a diameter of 12.2 m at ground level. It tapers slightly towards the top, with a diameter of approximately 10.5 m at the base of the dome. The water tank originally held 350 cubic meters. When Seckenheim was connected to Mannheim's central water supply in 1954, the reservoir was no longer needed. The tower is now a cultural monument under the Baden-Württemberg Monument Protection Act. 🚴♂️de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasserturm_(Mannheim-Seckenheim)
