Wonderful paths and rest areas around the water. Cattle graze between the birches. Without a doubt one of the top excursion areas very close to Berlin.

The Buch carp pond consists of three parts connected by inflows and outflows, which is located in the western part of the Buch forest. The lower pond has a small island which, because of its location, serves as a breeding ground for many birds. The main inflow is via a pipe connection from Lake Bogensee. The discharge takes place via a sluice into the Lietzengraben, which leads to the Panke. The extent of the ponds varies greatly depending on the inflow and rainfall. The entire area around the pond is flat, swampy and promotes the formation of bog soil. The upper carp pond and the subsequent Bogensee are in the nature reserve "Bogenseekette and Lietzengrabenniederung"; the lower carp ponds, however, belong to the “Buch” nature reserve. In addition to the easy-to-spot bird species, coot, mallard and swan, there are at least ten other species. Eleven species of fish are known to be found in these ponds. The main ones are tench, carp, perch, pike and eel.Source:

The ponds are beautifully set in nature and easily accessible. There are only a few people out and about in the early morning, so it is quiet despite the proximity to the city.

Driven by dozens of times and finally explored. By the way, it can be combined well with the Panke cycle path, which runs very close by.
