Wonderful paths and resting places around the water. Cattle graze between the birch trees. Without a doubt one of the top excursion areas very close to Berlin.

The Bucher carp pond consists of three parts connected by inflows and outflows, which are located in the western part of the Bucher Forest. The lower pond has a small island, which serves as a breeding ground for many birds due to its location. The main inflow is via a pipe connection from the Bogensee. The outflow is via a lock into the Lietzengraben, which leads to the Panke. Depending on the inflow and precipitation, the size of the ponds varies greatly. The entire area around the pond is flat, swampy and promotes the formation of moorland. The upper carp pond and the adjacent Bogensee are located in the "Bogenseekette und Lietzengrabenniederung" nature reserve; the lower carp ponds, on the other hand, belong to the "Buch" landscape conservation area. In addition to the easily identifiable bird species of coot, mallard and swan, there are at least ten other species. Eleven fish species are known to live in these ponds. The most important are tench, carp, perch, pike and eel. Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpfenteiche_(Berlin-Buch)
