The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was built by the landowners Protasyev in the village of Preobrazhenskoye, Vyaznikovsky district, Vladimir province (now Yuzhsky district, Ivanovo region) according to the design of the architect N.K. Reim (1854-1860). N.K. Reim is also known as the author of the designs of the Ascension Church in Ivanovo (now Revolution Square) and the Church of the Nativity of Christ (now Lenin Square) (both buildings are lost). For the construction of the Church of the Transfiguration and the sum of his previous achievements, the architectural assistant N.K. Reim was awarded the title of engineer-architect.
The massive volume of the temple, surrounded by overgrown trees and bushes, is clearly visible only from the park. The building in the "Russian-Byzantine" style, close in architecture to the exemplary works of K.A. Ton, belongs to the centric five-domed churches of the cathedral type.
The church stands away from the estate complex with a park, created at the entrance to the village from the Yuzha side in the first half of the 19th century.
