A beautiful hiking and cycling route leads along here. A wonderful nature reserve has been created by the sand removal from this area. This resulted in the Hammahersee lake, where greylag geese and Canary Island muscovy ducks now roost. There are several lovely places to rest here, as well as the Avenue of Trees and nesting boxes for owls. A visit is highly recommended.

The Hammah sand extraction area is a 29-hectare artificial body of water officially designated NSG LÜ 085. It lies on the Stader Geest, northeast of Hammah in the Stade district. There are benches for resting and relaxing. A view of the lake and the surrounding nature is highly recommended and beautiful.

Hammaher See Cycle Path:

This cycle and hiking path connects the Hammaher Butterstieg trail through the Hammaher Feldmark area. Starting from Stellberge, it runs for approximately 1 km directly alongside the Hammaher See nature reserve.

The highlight of this path is an access route into the nature reserve with a viewing platform extending into the lake and several benches. It's the perfect place to rest and enjoy the scenery during a long bike ride. The captivating view of the lake alone makes this route worth exploring.

Many migratory birds can also be found here.
