From 1879 onwards, a large linden tree with a cross beneath it stood on this spot.
The chapel was built in 1929. The limestone blocks used came from the Het Kalkwerk quarry near Kaardenbeek. The cross was then moved to the other intersection of the Craubeek, from Craubekerstraat to Kaardenbekerweg.
Three beech trees were planted behind the chapel around the time of World War II.
The chapel was renovated in 1977.
