The Grünwiesenweiher is a delight, especially in autumn when the leaves change colour. 😁 You'd think you were in the USA or Canada during Indian Summer. 🍁

The Grünwiesenweiher in Neu-Anspach is one of the few larger bodies of water in the Taunus with its size of around 1.3 hectares. For geological reasons, there are hardly any natural lakes in the Taunus. The green meadow pond was created artificially in the 18th century and served as a water reservoir for mills and as a fishing ground. In the 1940s and 1950s the pond was also used as a swimming lake. At that time, a quarry stone wall was built on the east bank for fortification. At that time there was also a bathing jetty and a barbecue hut. Unfortunately, the body of water regularly overturned due to the low level of water exchange. Bathing is therefore unfortunately prohibited today. The pond is under nature protection. Despite the bathing ban, the Grünwiesenweiher is an idyllic, inviting place. In summer, sunbathers cavort here on the east bank and there is always a place for a cozy picnic under shady trees.
