The symbolic "Way of Vytautas the Great" chapel pillar, St. Mary with the Child, standing at the Old Trakai Castle Site (end of the 12th century - 14th century), is reminiscent of medieval Madonnas and symbolizes chaste motherhood. However, for many, it is associated with the figure of Birute, holding her son Vytautas, the future Grand Duke of Lithuania, in her arms.
