The Levada do Alecrim is one of the most idyllic levadas in the Madeira highlands: The narrow irrigation channel leads you along soft forest paths, through fragrant broom and heather bushes, and past small streams. Again and again, the view opens up to reveal the green slopes and the plateau surrounding Rabacal. The gentle babbling of the levada accompanies you constantly – the perfect backdrop for a relaxing, scenic hike.
