Atkinson Lake State Recreation Area is a 14-acre fishing lake, perfect for fishing, boating, and camping. If you decide to stay overnight, the Mill Race Park & Campground provides a great option with electrical hookups, picnic tables, grills, and a playground. A half-mile Bluebird Trail offers a short walk with birdwatching. The park is open year-round and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're cycling the Cowboy Trail, it’s just a two-mile detour.
