The Kochelsee impresses with its beautiful mountain scenery and wooded banks and is therefore a dream for all cyclists who want to be very close to nature. In summer, the lake is ideal for resting because there are four swimming areas where you can refresh yourself in the cool water on hot days.

At the foot of the mountains Herzogstand and Heimgarten lies the beautiful Kochelsee. Inflow and outflow is the Loisach. On the shores of the lake lies the village Kochel am See - an ideal starting point for tours in this area. The Kochelsee is additionally fed by the inflow from the Walchensee power plant. On the southeastern shore of the lake is an imposing substation.

The Kochelsee is located in the Vor-Karwendel between Walchensee and the Loisach / Kochelsee moorland. At just under 6 square kilometers - slightly smaller than the neighboring Walchensee - it is still one of the larger lakes in Bavaria and up to 66 meters deep.
The Kochelsee has a special place in Bavaria: it is the lake with the strongest flow in Bavaria. Thanks to the fresh water, he has the best bathing quality!
