Perron-Berger Park was dedicated by the Canada Lands Company on June 6, 2010, as part of their redevelopment of Edmonton’s former Canadian Forces Base (Griesbach Barracks).

The park s named in memory of paratroopers Gilbert Perron and Claude Berger, members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment who were killed while serving with the United Nations mission in Cyprus. The park is also named in honour of all members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment who served on the United Nations Mission in Cyprus.
