This park is in the Kensington neighbourhood and has an area of 5.88 ha. This name replaces the subdivisions of Grand Trunk Annex and Queen Mary Park (not to be confused with the current Queen Mary Park neighbourhood). Kensington was the name of a subdivision located to the east of the present-day neighbourhood and appears as early as 1907. The name may have been taken from the Kensington area of London, England, which has been part of the British capital since 1899.
