The aurochs sculpture was unveiled in 2002 to mark the 700th anniversary of the city of Rakvere. Located near the castle on Vallimägi Hill in Rakvere, the aurochs is 7 meters long, 4 meters high, and weighs 7 tons. It stands on a granite base, with the Rakvere coat of arms at the front, and on the sides, a brief history of the city in Estonian, Swedish, German, Danish, Polish, and Russian, along with the names of the aurochs statue's supporters.
