The bunker was built to defend the anti-tank centre KW-Line.
Historical explanation of the KW-Line:
The KW-Line is one of the defence lines that were built just before the Second World War to protect Belgium against a German invasion. The line consisted of more than 400 bunkers and ran straight through Belgium, from Koningshooikt to Waver. Hence the name KW-Line.
Remnants of this line are still visible in the landscape.
