Where a panoramic trail now runs, the route of the former Rigi-Kaltbad-Scheidegg Railway (RSB) once ran. The RBS is a former Swiss narrow-gauge railway. In Rigi Kaltbad at 1,423 m above sea level, it connected to the Vitznau-Rigi Railway, built in 1871, and ran to Rigi Scheidegg at 1,648 m above sea level. Upon completion, it was the highest adhesion railway in Europe. The route is now a hiking trail in summer and a cross-country ski trail in winter.
