Compared to other Valais climbs, especially the long ones south of the Rhône, the climb up to Lac de Derborence is relatively easy, but no less beautiful.
After the ride through the vineyards on the southern slopes of Conthey, the wild and natural section through the narrow valley begins from Aven.
The mountain lake at the finish line was only formed in 1749 after a major landslide.
