The village of Volgfelde, a district of the Hanseatic city of Stendal, welcomes its guests at the town entrance. This village is located in the southern Altmark region on the upper Uchte River, about 15 kilometers southwest of Stendal and 15 kilometers east of Gardelegen. South of the village lies the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide, the largest contiguous heathland in Central Europe. The first documented mention of Volgfelde dates back to 1191. In the 1375 Land Register of the Margraviate of Brandenburg, the village was listed as "Walkfelde" or "Valkfelde." On January 1, 2010, Volgfelde was incorporated into the city of Stendal.

The Protestant village church is a late Romanesque fieldstone building from the 13th century. It was rebuilt between 1734 and 1737 and again in 1880. The organ dates from 1881. Another historical monument is the memorial to the fallen of the First World War, erected in 1922 and supplemented in 1993 by a memorial stone for the victims of the Second World War. The village street is lined with old hawthorn trees, and the avenue leading to Börgitz consists of maple trees planted between 1828 and 1830.
