Until the 16th century, there was a forest on the site of the current village. It surrounded the main road from Kostroma to Moscow, called the Stromynsky tract. This forest had a bad reputation, robbers often hid in it. One day, four brothers settled here. Their leader was called Flor. The brothers made their living as robbers and were unusually lucky. They robbed convoys with goods, attacked travelers and just travelers, took away property, in general, they brought fear and horror to everyone who came to these places. People began to call the robber brothers by the formidable names "Florishchi". The robber brothers were not caught, gradually they began to acquire families, their households settled here, along the road. They had nothing to fear, and the road enlivened their lives, providing an opportunity for trade or exchange. Meanwhile, Flor's gang, either fearing for their families or simply tired of robbery, abandoned their criminal trade. The robbers began to trade with passing merchants and stopped robbing. The settlement, not subjected to robbery attacks, attracted attention. People began to move here, closer to the road, to settle down thoroughly, and merchants began to stop more often. Thus, a village was formed.
They did not even have to invent a name for this place, it was born by itself: "Florishchi". The old name of the river closest to the village, "Plaksy", has survived to this day, as a reminder of the tears and bitter grievances of the robbed and humiliated. Over time, the villagers wanted to build a Church for themselves. They collected funds, strained their efforts and ... built it. The Florishchens dedicated a small wooden church to the saint and miracle worker Nicholas. There is a legend that already at the end of their lives, Flora’s brothers gave all their savings to the Church.
